Your AAC professionals and team are looking forward to the spring tennis season and dry weather. As you can see, we are planning a full season of offerings that can help you fill your tennis hours. A few highlights for March are the two kick off events for the ALTA season. The Ladies ALTA round robin, luncheon and fashion show, along with the Men’s Bar-b-que and Brew round robin will begin our competitive season. Make sure you sign-up for these events; it is going to be fun and competitive. For the past 7 years, we have hosted the AAC High School Invitational presented by Piedmont Bank. TENNIS 101 For those who want to learn the game of tennis, please come join our tennis 101 class and learn all of the basics on proper, grip, forehand, backhand, volleys, overheads, in addition, serves. This session runs for 6 weeks from 10 -11 am on Sundays. A complimentary racquet is included in the program. . Please come join us! TENNIS 201 For those who want to play with others and learn the basic strategy of how to play doubles. This session runs for 6 weeks from 11 am-12 pm on Sundays. Please come join us! Weeknight Tennis 101 and 201 will be offered for those who have a busy family weekend schedule and want to try a weeknight class. Tennis 101 will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6 -7 pm. Tennis 201 will be held on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 6:30 pm. These will also, be 6-week session classes. Please register now! INTERMEDIATE LADIES For those who want to hit a lot of tennis balls and get back into playing doubles in order to get ready for league play. This session runs for 6 weeks from 10 -11 am on Fridays. Please register now!
Six local high schools boys and girls tennis teams compete in the event each year. Matches will be held on the afternoons of March 15 & 16. Teams competing this year are Alpharetta, Cambridge, Milton, Westminster, Norcross, and West Forsyth. West Forsyth is our returning champion and I know they will again have a very strong team. The format is six lines of mixed doubles each round. Piedmont Bank has been a supporter of the event for the past seven years. Their support allows us to provide player gifts, pizza party and awards for the winning team. ROOKIE LADIES For those who want to knock the rust off their rackets and get back into playing tennis again! This session runs for 6 weeks from 11 am-12 pm on Fridays! Please register now! BACK TO BASICS DOUBLES CLINIC Need to brush up on your doubles strategy? Come and work on your serve and serve return tactics and doubles positioning. Drill instruction and live ball play will be included. Sign up today! SHOT OF THE DAY CLINIC This class is perfect if you want to work on a certain shot of your game. Each week will feature a different shot to work on whether it be shot mechanics or shot placement. This class includes drill instruction and some live ball interaction. Sign up today! With the weather warming up, we will again be prepping the clay courts for the annual resurfacing and this spring will begin repairing courts 5 & 6 and color coating all the hard courts. Please be patience with our maintenance staff as we begin getting the courts ready for the outdoor season. Lastly a special thank you to all the support for Ileana Jennings and her family. The loss of her husband so suddenly was tragic. We are thankful for the response to the GoFundMe account and all the prayers. I will keep all the membership informed of any needs she may need. Hit and Fit Every Monday, 12:00 – 1:30 pm Cost: $37 Come ready to hit a lot of balls and get an amazing workout including fun and fast-paced point play with live ball drills. Early Bird Every Tuesday, 7:00 – 8:30 am Cost: $37 Jumpstart your morning with a great workout! These point play drills will incorporate cardio tennis and strategy for both – singles & doubles! Designed for advanced and intermediate players Adult Camp Every Wednesday, 9:00 –10:30 am Cost: $37 High-intensity point play-based. During the hour and a half, you will go through various games and drills to help you on the court during your matches.
