2024 Buz McGriff Award Recipient Andruw Jones Andruw Jones played 17 seasons in Major League Baseball, including 12 seasons with the Atlanta Braves. Initially drafted by the Braves at age 16, Mr. Jones is widely considered to be the best player to come out of his home country of Curacao. After playing for the Braves, he went on to play for the Dodgers, Rangers, White Sox and Yankees to finish his career. Best known for his defensive prowess, Jones won 10 consecutive Gold Glove awards with the Braves, a feat accomplished by just four other players in baseball history. As one of the most prolific players to wear a Braves uniform, he is just the third player in franchise history to record seven 30-homer seasons, and was the youngest player to ever hit a home run in a World Series game at age 19.

Jerry Rhea AAC member since 2020 • Athletic Trainer for the Atlanta • Induction into the NATA Hall of Fame in 1985 • Recipient of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine Distinguished Service Athletic Trainer Award in 1991 • Induction into the GATA’s Hall of Fame in 2004; also named an award after him • Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society (PFATS) created the Jerry “Hawk” Rhea Award • Induction into the PFATS Hall of Fame in 2022 • Pro Football Hall of Fame Award of Excellence, 2022 • Atlanta Falcon’s Training Room was named after him in 2022 Falcons from 1969 until 1994 and for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics
