Board Book 2023

Discussion Items: Erica then discussed the internal waitlisted members. Currently, they are allowed to play golf with a golf member as their guest once a month or 12 times a year. They pay half the greens fee rate. Many are becoming frustrated as we estimated it would only be a year wait and it is now becoming closer to two years. She asked that we allow them to play on some weekday afternoons when the tee sheet is not full. The committee agreed and would like the Golf Committee to review. Other Clubs are also experiencing slower member interest. We are the only club that charges a deposit to be added to the external waitlist. Milford then reviewed some statistics regarding prospective member wait times. There was a pandemic bump for many years at clubs and now this has slowed. National interest in joining a club is down 50% from last year. Tour to sales ratio (from the time they tour to the time they join) is down 11% in the first six months of 2022. There is also a 27% increase in the time from member contact to member conversion. So there has definitely been a slow-down in club membership interest. We have a pipeline of committed prospective members and are in a good position if there is an economic downturn. However, we do need to keep them engaged with the club and make them feel connected so they will join when they come off the waitlist.

With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:23 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Margaret Almand, Executive Assistant For the Membership Committee
