SOCIAL & DINING

Ladies Bridge Association AAC Ladies Bridge Association hosted our couples bridge at maximum capacity in the Dot Kirby card room with 32 players attending. We had fun teaching the guys how to use bidding boxes. Using the bidding boxes has had an impact on the reduction of noise in our small room. The first place winners were Lori and Chuck McElroy; second place winners were Decie and Bill Nygaard. Sandra Evans, Couples Events chairperson, and her husband Tom were great organizers for the event. A dinner buffet was immediately following bridge play in the Oakmont Room. Due to the July 4th holiday, we will have our next couples bridge night on Friday, July 9th. We are delighted to continue our Wednesday socials the second and fourth week and duplicate the first and third week each month in the Dot Kirby card room at 3:00 PM. Our last social event there were 24 ladies in attendance. We have enjoyed dinner in the Troon Grill, some joined by their spouses/significant others. The staff in the grill have been great to assist our group with reservations to accommodate our diners. We would like to welcome our new members, Bev Cheek and Nell Strickland. We look forward to them playing in our Wednesday social and duplicate events. We would like to set up some beginner bridge classes. If you are interested in the classes please contact Genevieve

Primose by email primosfamily@bellsouth.net. Both men and women are invited to take these classes. Anyone who is interested in playing Women’s Marathon Bridge should contact Melissa Dickens at msfolly@ dickens.nu. Marathon is played with a partner, once a month from August to March, skipping December each year. The deadline to sign up for this year is July 23. Marathon is open to anyone who is a member of the AAC Women’s Bridge Club. Come and join us! We score the hands duplicate fashion, so your partnership has a fair chance regardless of the cards you are dealt. NS teams are scored only against other NS teams, and EW teams only compete against other EW teams. If you are interested in joining our bridge association please contact M.J. Olsen at mjolsen225@gmail.com or by phone #770-595-8197. We are always looking for new players.

(Director of Catering AAC) sister is an author, and we will be reading one of her books, Still Waters by Lindsay Brackett. The story takes place in Edisto, SC and we will have the opportunity to ask Lindsey (and Kelsey) what is fact and what is fiction. Copies of the book are available in the Stirling Room under the TV along with a copy of each of the books we will be reading. Please remember to sign out the books and return them in a reasonable amount of time.
