Fitness Programs - Over the past two months, Margaret Thomas, our Fitness Programs Manager has done a tremendous job enhancing our wellness offerings. We have added six new group exercise classes each week, as well as two special event classes each month (with free wine!). As an extension of our personal training program, we are offering private stretch sessions, as well as small group sessions focused on flexibility and core strength for golfers. We are very excited to have recently completed the renovation of a new functional fitness room, which will provide another unique area for our most dedicated fitness enthusiasts to push their workouts to another level! Finally, many members will be happy to know we are finishing plans to build private office space for our physical therapists. We are excited to help them expand on their success in keeping our membership healthy to continue their athletic pursuits! Aquatics- Lastly, I know our membership will be excited to hear the Pool will resume normal operations this summer with no reservations required except for Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day. Other than those three days, come to the pool anytime you wish, splash with your kids, and enjoy a cold beverage with friends! Be sure to check out our full calendar of Youth and Family events this summer including camps, swim and dive team, and other special events that will make lasting memories for the entire family! Stewardship- I’ll close with a few words about stewardship, a concept you will hear a lot about as we approach the club’s 125th anniversary celebration in 2023. As stewards, it is job #1 for each of us to be good caretakers and guardians of the AAC. This applies to how we manage our buildings and our grounds. It also applies to how we manage our history and traditions. We are being good stewards when we invest our capital wisely in our buildings and grounds. Similarly, we are also being good stewards when we honor and uphold the standards of conduct and decorum that have shaped our history since the very beginning. Both are essential elements to stewardship. It’s going to be a great summer at Atlanta Athletic Club! Sincerely, Kevin Case Chair of Athletics and Tennis

Roll Out Those Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer- Yes, I know it’s still spring as you read this. And yes, I know that only club members of a certain age, like my fellow Duffers, can relate to that great line from the 1963 Nat King Cole song of the same name. I predict, though, regardless of your age, this May-June edition of the AAC Club Times, crafted by

Ansley Brackin, will put you in that summertime mood. Neil Doldo, Director of Athletics, and his great staff have planned many fun activities at the Pool, Fitness Center, Timbers, and Retreat Spa this summer for you and your family. By the way, when you see Neil, congratulate him for celebrating his 10th year with the club. Under his steady leadership, our Athletics Department has seen tremendous growth in usage over his years at the helm, while maintaining an exceptional AAC experience for our members. Neil is beyond excited to have 100% of our athletics facilities and programs open again! Read on for a little glimpse of what to expect over the next few months… Sports Appreciation Night Kicks Off a Big Year for Athletics - Hollywood could not have written a better ending, for both the Georgia Bulldogs in the CFP Championship game and for the timing of our Sports Appreciation Banquet honoring Coach Kirby Smart. Although the game’s Hollywood ending looked doubtful at 10:14 in the fourth quarter with the Bulldogs down 13-18 to the Crimson Tide. Yet, under the steady leadership of Coach Smart, and the heads up play of Stetson Bennett, Adonai Mitchell and many others, the Dawgs came roaring back to claim their first national championship since 1980. Some may call it serendipity that the AAC chose to honor Coach Smart as our 2020 Sportsman of the Year, and then postponed the ceremony for two years until the Dawgs won the National Championship. Others may call it luck. I prefer to think of it as good foresight on the part of our club. Sports Appreciation Night, honoring Coach Smart as our 51st recipient of the Buzz McGriff Award will finally be held on Tuesday night May 17. The event promises to be the hottest ticket in the history of Sports Appreciation Night and certain to be a sell-out. In addition to celebrating Coach Smart’s monumental achievements, we will also honor three exceptional AAC athletes; Clint Boling, Brooks Curry, and Bailey Moody. The three of them will join an impressive list of members in the AAC Hall of Fame. It promises to be an event for the ages! The Retreat Spa continues to be one of the busiest and most popular amenities at the club under the leadership of our spa director, Debbie Jacobson. The addition of Lululemon to the retail boutique has been a tremendous success and our dedicated team continues to provide the very best in therapeutic treatments to our members. We are also excited to offer online reservations for all our spa services. Now you can conveniently book your favorite therapist!
