TENNIS CELEBRATIONS IN LADIES’ TENNIS

Congratulations to our 2.5 State Champions!

The team, captained by Erin Rhatigan and Brooke Wooten, truly worked as a team, overcoming early round injury to a player to capture the championship. The matches took place in Rome, GA. Our state champions will now be representing Georgia and competing in sectional matches against other states’ champions. The matches will take place July 23 – July, also in Rome, GA.

B-1 DIVISION RUNNER-UP: TUESDAY TEAM – MALONE / LUSSIER AA-1 DIVISION RUNNER-UP: THURSDAY TEAM – DREHER / BOLING B-5 DIVISION WINNER: THURSDAY TEAM – HOPPER / MCMICHAEL C-1 DIVISION WINNER: THURSDAY TEAM – KILGORE / HOBGOOD B-2 DIVISION RUNNER-UP: SUNDAY TEAM – BREWSTER / MALONE B-7 DIVISION WINNER: SUNDAY TEAM – CUSIMANO / MANNING

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 3.0 STATE RUNNER-UP! The team, captained by Katie Mays and Leah Winkler, was in position to capture the state championship when mother nature and the USTA combined to interrupt our momentum. The team rolled through all the competition in early matches. On Sunday, which was the last day of regular play as well as the semi-final matches, our team was undefeated. Since rain was forecast for the following day, the USTA made the decision to hold the finals that night, at 8:00 p.m. This required some of our team members to play 3 grueling matches in one day. They fought hard however came up painfully short, falling 3-2 in the finals. We are so proud of them.
