Atlanta Athletic Club Sees Bright Future in Women’s Golf A Letter from Our AAC KPMG Championship Co-Chairs

The AAC is very proud to host the 67th KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, our second women’s major championship, and the club’s sixth major golf championship overall! The Highlands Course, designed by renowned course architect Rees Jones, has been the host of five of golf ’s major championships, and it will again present an excellent challenge for the best female golfers in the world.

The Atlanta Athletic Club’s mission has always been to host national golf championships, while also being one of the top family focused clubs in the country. This championship joins a list of other prestigious tournaments held at the Atlanta Athletic Club including: the 1976 U.S. Open Championship, the 1990 U.S. Women’s Open, three PGA Championships (1981, 2001, 2011), the 2002 U.S. Junior Amateur, and the 2014 U.S. Amateur. The AAC has a history of developing great golfers as well, including the great Bobby Jones and three other renowned female golfers, Alexa Stirling, Dot Kirby, and Martha Kirouac. The club continues to focus on building a very robust junior golf development program, which has recently produced many talented young players who have been ranked in the top 100 golfers nationally. Several of these young men and women, from this program, have recently gone on to play golf for several Division I schools. In addition to being a stage for the greatest women golfers of our day, this Championship also provides the opportunity to “Inspire Greatness” and to empower women on and off the golf course. We can all be inspired to dream of and to achieve our very best whether we are athletes, business people, students, parents, community leaders, volunteers, or fans. Atlanta Athletic Club is extremely proud to host the 2021 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. We offer our sincere thanks to the many dedicated people who have worked to ensure this year’s Championship is a successful one.
