Candidate Membership Materials

Admissions Process Overview

On behalf of the Membership Committee and Board of Directors, we sincerely thank you for your interest in inviting a candidate to begin the admissions process at Atlanta Athletic Club, Inc. (the “AAC” or “Club”). New Members are vital to the future of our Club. As the Primary Sponsor you play a critical role in the admissions process, you must know the candidate well enough to be able to attest to their character, and you are responsible for ensuring they have an extensive knowledge of our heritage, traditions and values. It is imperative that they understand what it means to be a good steward of the Club and are familiar with our rules and bylaws. The Primary Sponsor is responsible for investing the time and effort to ensure that the membership steps are completed in a timely manner and that both Co-Sponsors adequately know and feel comfortable with the candidate in order to write quality letters of recommendation

Steps of the Admissions Process

INVITATION :

Primary Sponsor contacts AAC Membership Director, Erica Smith by email esmith@aac1.org or by calling 770-368-7702. The Primary Sponsor must confirm that the candidate will be sponsored by three members in total (one Primary Sponsor and two Co-Sponsors). All sponsors must know the candidate well enough to vouch for their character and believe the candidate would be a good fit for our Club. All Sponsors must be members for a minimum of one (1) year before being eligible to sponsor a candidate. Of the three (3) Sponsors, one must be a member for a minimum of five (5) years. The Primary Sponsor will be given an outline of the letter requirements for each sponsor. The Membership Director will email the membership packet to the Primary Sponsor to share with the candidate. Once the candidate has reviewed the information, they may contact the Membership Director directly to set a required tour of the facilities and to understand the membership process. After the tour, if the candidate decides to continue the membership process, they may visit the AAC Website with provided guest login information to review the Club’s Rules and Bylaws and have an understanding of the privileges of members, spouses, and dependents for all areas of the Club. If an External Waitlist for membership exists, the candidate must complete the Initiation Fee Lock-In Form. The form along with the appropriate non-refundable deposit and all three sponsorship letters, must be returned to the Membership Director in order for the candidate’s name to be added to the External Waitlist. Once all paperwork and monies are received, the candidate will begin the waiting period. Please note the timing of both the External and Jones Golf Waitlists given are estimates and can change based on member attrition.
